Welcome...

Welcome to Wonder Star School - where we are committed to providing a safe, joyful and inspiring learning environment in which all pupils can develop academically, socially, emotionally and morally, to their full potential.
We recognise that mainstream education and the classroom environment is not for everyone and, through our carefully planned curriculum and excellent pastoral support, we offer pupils the chance to thrive, achieve and improve their life chances.
We treat every pupil at Wonder Star School with the same consideration, commitment, patience and kindness that we would want for our own children.
We understand that a positive, well-rounded education goes far beyond the classroom and our dedicated team of staff are passionate about developing the character strengths of our pupils, as well as aiming for academic success.
About Us
Wonder Star School is a primary special school for pupils aged from five to eleven years (Year 1 to Year 6), whose educational needs cannot be met in a mainstream school.
We provide specialist provision for:
- Cognitive and Learning Needs (CL)
- Speech, Language and Communication (SLCN)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Specific Learning Difficulties (SPLD)

Class groups

At Wonder Star School, we utilise the first few weeks getting to know each new pupil, through a series of informal and formal assessments and/or observations.
This helps us understand their strengths, learning needs, and overall development, so we can place them in the class where they’ll thrive best.
At Wonder Star School, each class is divided into small groups, with a maximum of 5 pupils in each. These classes are grouped on pupils' individual needs and abilities, rather than their age.
This approach helps ensure that each pupil learns at the right pace and receives the support they need to succeed. It allows for more effective teaching and better learning outcomes for everyone.
Classes:
- Starlights (Sensory)
- Moonbeams (KS1)
- Rockets (LKS2)
- Astronauts (UKS2)
